Maryellen Elcock, MPH, PhD

Maryellen received a Master’s degree in Public Health from Yale University and a doctorate in Epidemiology from the University of California, Davis. As the first professional Director of Animal Assisted Therapy Programs for the Delta Society Pet Partners Program, Maryellen provided oversight of the international volunteer Pet Partners Program including developing curriculum and training systems for Animal Assisted Therapy volunteers nationwide which is now standard practice in the health care arena.  She also had two of her own dogs trained as Pet Partners and together they visited patients in health care environments. In 2004 Maryellen established Creekside Critter Care, LLC in Maple Valley, WA offering a variety of pet care services.  Maryellen began teaching Pet First Aid and CPR classes in 2008 to pet lovers and pet care professionals and she is proud to be an instructor for Pet Emergency Education.  Walking in the beautiful Pacific Northwest woods with dogs is one of her favorite activities.
