Maryann is a training professional combining years of Animal Disaster Response experience and expertise with presentation skills. She was on the ground with a national organization during Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana in 2005, supervising volunteers who rescued and sheltered animals, helping to set the groundwork within a multi-organizational team chosen to work on the PETS act, signed into law by President Bush in 2007, which created new national standards to include animals in state disaster plans. In addition to supervising and training volunteers on a variety of subjects such as Animal Disaster Preparedness, Pet CPR and additional FEMA courses, Maryann developed Bucks County, PA’s first Animal Disaster Plan coordinating with the EMA .While supervising, training and motivating over 100 volunteers over a 4 year period as the Bucks County Animal Response Team Coordinator. In addition to being a Training Officer for DHS based courses for Foreign Animal Disease Response, Avian Influenza Response and Disaster Management Personnel Training, she conducts risk assessments and develops plans for shelters and rescue organizations for disaster preparedness planning, along with developing and delivering educational courses for schools, businesses and other organizations. As well as teaching animal rescue and sheltering courses she devised for PASART. Maryann holds a certificate in Humane Education and is a certified Animal Cruelty Investigator as well. Maryann brings with her several years’ experience as a veterinary technician in an emergency veterinary practice in the past, and currently works as an RN full time in addition to her volunteer activities with animals. She was the recipient of the national animal advocacy award “Heart and Soul Award” presented by UAN(Redrover) in 2008. Maryann also currently volunteers for a local non-profit cat rescue doing TNR, fostering and transporting kitties.
Alison has been working as a Professional Pet Groomer for 26 Years! In those years, she has owned and operated her own multi groomer Pet Salon, has earned an Internationally Accredited Pet Grooming Instructor Diploma, worked for 6 years as a Veterinary Assistant, and, Earned her Certification in Canine Massage Therapy. She currently owns the Groomer Training Center, Dog Grooming School & Pet Salon in Cleona Pennsylvania. She understands the utmost importance of Pet First Aid and CPR knowledge, especially for those in her profession. She is proud to be an Instructor through “Pet Emergency Education”. By offering this class to her Students, she gains the confidence of knowing, her Grooming Students will be properly prepared to responsibly care for their “Pet Clients”. Allison also welcomes the opportunity to offer this class to Pet owners!
